Episode Title: "Gypsy Eyes"
Original Air Date: 09/22/98
Admiral Chegwidden, refusing to believe the KGB accounts that say Harm and Mac died in a tragic air accident, flies to Moscow to begin his own investigation, on the third CBS season premiere of JAG. Harm and Mac survive the plane crash and decide to continue their search for Harm's MIA father, the mission that brought them to Russia in the first place. With the help of a Russian brother and sister, they elude capture by KGB search parties and Harm finally learns what happened to his father after so many years.
Concluding last season's cliffhanger---and the search for Harm's father---the fourth-season opener finds Chegwidden going to Russia after an air crash is reported to have killed Harm and Mac, who are aided by gypsy siblings.

I found a pretty interesting article today at the LA Times web site. Here's an excerpt:
When "JAG" launches its new year Sept. 22, the show will resolve last season's cliffhanger. An airborne Harm was in the crosshairs of enemy pilots after he stole a MIG to find his father, a missing-in-action officer who reportedly had been located in Russia. Harm's torment over his dad has been an element of "JAG" from the start, but Bellisario claims it hasn't always been easy to retain.
"There's so much to keep in mind for each character, we sometimes get a little crazed. The opening story of the new season will finally resolve what happened to Harm's father, in what I think is a very unique way. A lot of fans want him to find his father alive, while others want that mystery to go on. We're going to put it to bed, but in upcoming episodes, Harm finds a new obsession to hook onto. That keeps the show psychologically interesting."
Oooh. It has me so curious! I wonder what interesting way they're gonna resolve the storyline? And a new obsession for Harm? Hmmmmmmmm.
