The president nominates a tough Marine lawyer, Col. Gordon Cresswell, to replace Chegwidden, sparking rampant rumors on Capitol Hill and in the JAG section.

"A Whole New Ballgame" -- The rumor mill is in high gear when the nomination for Chegwidden's replacement is announced, on JAG, Friday, Oct. [29] (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Terrence O'Hara directed the episode from a script by Darcy Meyers.
Dr. Joyce Brothers guest stars Senator Diedre Kerner, who is on the Senate approval committee for the new JAG.
Capital Hill and JAG are abuzz with rumors when it's learned that the president's nominee for Chegwidden's job is Colonel Gordon Cresswell (David Andrews), a tough Marine lawyer with combat experience. The news spreads to Harm and Mac, who are aboard a US destroyer resolving a dispute between Canadian and U.S. fishermen. Upon hearing the nomination, Mac worries that her history with the Colonel is going to affect her position in the office.
